"I know what you're thinking: 'I'm getting SO fat.' But they're so YUM!" — Juliet |
Introverted Mode is a mode introduced in Lollipop Chainsaw Remastered, unlocked by defeating Mariska in Psychedelic Haze at O'Bannon Farm. In this mode, every level is flipped around so that what should be on the left is now on the right, and vice versa. Each level also has a different filter depending on which stage the level belongs belongs to. For example, Thunder at San Romero High! is completely white but the player's actions will bring back the color. On top of that, the level's soundtrack is slightly different.
Gameplay tweaks[]
San Romero High School is the BEST![]
- The level is covered in darkness.
- The player can light up the level using pom-poms and the chainsaw. Juliet herself emits a small light that pulsates every two seconds.
- Level elements are color-coded. Juliet is light-blue, SOS characters are brown, zombies are red, computers are green, helicopters are yellow, and school buses are magenta.
- Music is distorted by flange which increases in depth when Juliet uses her pom-poms or her chainsaw.
- The theming of the filter is based off submarine sonar radars.
What Happened at San Romero High?[]
- Everything is overlayed with comic book tones.
- Attacking an enemy will display classic onomatopoeias like Bam!, Pow!, Poof!, and Wham! (defeating enemies will play a sound effect).
- Music hasn't been changed.
- The theming of the filter is based off superhero comic books.
Thunder at San Romero High![]
- The level geometry is completely blank and has no color.
- Performing a chainsaw or pom-pom attack will bring color back to the level.
- If color hasn't been brought back for ten seconds, music will have a high-pass filter over it.
Psychedelic Haze at O'Bannon Farm[]
- The level's geometry seems to be negative photography that's been tinted blue with a bit of cell-shading mixed in.
- Level elements such as Juliet and the enemies are only slightly cell-shaded.
- Music hasn't been changed.
Arcade Action at the Fulci Fun Center[]
- The level has limited render distance.
- Everything has a neon outline around it, this includes level geometry which will also display its wireframes.
- Juliet's chainsaw and pom-pom attacks are overdrived.
- Every so often the level's lighting will flicker and become dim, the player can light up the level again by reaching a checkpoint (Josey's boss section will not become dim).
- Music has a drumbeat; its volume depends on how bright the stage is.
Evil at the Unfinished Cathedral[]
- The level's art style has been changed to simulate something found in children's coloring books.
- Crayons have been chosen as the primary tool for coloring the level.
- The main path is usually colored with background elements only being sketched.
- Music hasn't been changed.
WTF?![]
- Everything is pixelated to simulate retro graphics.
- Regular sound effects like chainsaw and pom-pom attacks have been replaced by 8-bit versions.
- Music is instead replaced by an 8-bit rendition.
Trivia[]
- Introverted Mode got its name because the word "Introverted" refers to of, denoting, or typical of an introvert, a person who is predominantly concerned with their own thoughts and feelings, rather than with external things.
- The only Introverted level that affects gameplay in any way is San Romero High School is the BEST!, where its Introverted Mode affects visibility, causing the player to continuously attack to see.
